The TELCO L01 is completed entirely online and takes approximately 2 hours. You can work through the course at your own pace, with multiple practice tests along the way before attempting the final exam. The exam is also taken online through our platform. Once you pass, your Certificate of Achievement is issued digitally — there’s no need to attend a centre at any point.

The TELCO L01 is the mandatory Health and Safety qualification for anyone working in the telecommunications industry. It covers relevant H&S legislation, electrical regulations, fundamental electrical principles, and the dangers associated with electricity in a telecoms environment. If you are progressing onto the TELCO L03, the L01 is included as part of that course — you don’t need to book it separately.

On successful completion of the final exam, you receive a Certificate of Achievement confirming you have met the Health and Safety requirements for the Telecommunications Industry. This certificate also acts as a direct pathway onto the TELCO L03 course.

The TELCO L03 combines online self-paced learning with 2 days of practical and written assessments at one of our UK centres. You complete the theory in your own time — spending as long as you need — before attending the centre for the hands-on assessment element. The TELCO L01 Health and Safety course is included and must be completed before attending the 2-day centre sessions.

The TELCO L03 is designed for field engineers, technicians and riggers working in the telecoms industry who need to demonstrate competency in DC electrical installations. There are no entry requirements — you don’t need any prior electrical qualifications to enrol. The TELCO L01 is included as part of the course. If you are already a qualified electrician, you may be better suited to the faster TELCO L04 route.

On successful completion of the TELCO L03, you receive the EAL Level 3 Award in DC Electrical Installations within the Telecommunications Industry — 603/7601/6. This is a nationally recognised qualification that demonstrates your expertise and competence to employers and clients in the telecoms sector.

The TELCO L04 is a 1-day course delivered at one of our UK centres. The day includes face-to-face tuition covering the theory specific to DC telecoms power systems, followed by both a theory assessment and a practical assessment — all completed on the same day. There is no separate online learning component; the streamlined format is designed to build on your existing electrical knowledge.

The TELCO L04 is a fast-track route specifically for qualified electricians. To enrol, you must provide evidence of relevant qualifications, which can include any of the following:

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
• Level 3 Inspection and Testing — e.g. City & Guilds 2391
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations
• Membership of a recognised competency scheme — NICEIC, NAPIT, or JIB Gold Card / ECS Gold Card

If you don’t yet hold any of the above, the TELCO L03 is the correct starting point.

Yes — the TELCO L04 leads to exactly the same qualification as the TELCO L03: the EAL Level 3 Award in DC Electrical Installations within the Telecommunications Industry — 603/7601/6. The only difference is the delivery route. The L04 Fast Track condenses the training into a single day for those who already hold relevant electrical qualifications, removing the need for the online theory component.

Yes — for groups of 6 or more, we can bring training directly to your site. We have portable assessment equipment that can be transported to your location, or we can work with equipment you already have on-site.
