Do I need to have a Level 2 already to enrol on the Improvers Package? +
No — the Improvers Package includes the Level 2 Diploma as the first qualification in the bundle. You do not need to have completed it elsewhere before enrolling. If you already hold a relevant Level 2 or similar qualification you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which could reduce the time and cost of your package — our advisors will assess this at enrolment.
What’s the difference between the Beginners Package and the Improvers Package? +
The Beginners Package gives you four foundational qualifications (Level 2, 18th Edition, Part P and SPA) to get started in the industry and gain your ECS Labourer card. The Improvers Package goes further — it includes Level 2, Level 3, 18th Edition and the 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification, putting you on the path to becoming a fully qualified electrician.
What is RPL and could it reduce my course duration? +
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows us to assess any relevant skills, knowledge or qualifications you already hold and credit these towards your programme. If successful, RPL can reduce both the duration of your study and the overall cost of the package. All candidates are assessed for RPL at the point of enrolment — simply let us know your background when you enquire.
How is the Improvers Package delivered — do I need to attend full-time? +
No full-time attendance is required. The package uses a blended learning model: self-paced eLearning available online at any time, live virtual classroom sessions on weeknights, and practical centre-based sessions at weekends at our London (Isleworth) or Manchester (Hyde) centres. The programme typically takes around 25 weeks part-time.
What career options open up after completing the Improvers Package? +
After completing the Improvers Package you will hold Level 2, Level 3 and Inspection & Testing qualifications, placing you in a strong position to work as an electrician’s mate or trainee electrician. The natural next step is to take the NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation — included in our Electrician Gold Card Package — which qualifies you as a fully competent electrician and enables you to obtain your ECS Gold Card.
Can I spread the cost of the Improvers Package over time? +
Yes. The Improvers Package is available with a 0% interest payment plan. You pay a £500 deposit to secure your place and the remaining balance can be spread over 3, 6 or 12 months. There is no credit check required. PayPal Pay in 3 is also available for smaller upfront payments at checkout.
